Guest Parking Help

Guest parking around the Lofts can be a challenge for first time visitors and even regulars. So, we have a parking map that you can download, print out or email to your guests to avoid conflicts with our neighbors.

Remember, it is your responsibility, as host, to make sure that your guests, vendors and contractors, are not inconveniencing others around you, and risking getting their vehicles towed.

As you may know, most parking spaces on the Westinghouse Plaza property are not available for “free” parking. They are owned by Residents and Businesses on the property.

To avoid getting towed, only park in the appropriate spots, with a Guest Parking Pass.

Guest Parking Space Policies at The Lofts

  • The Guest Parking Spots are located just past the Garbage Corral, with additional spaces in the Field lot.
  • The spots are for temporary guests of the Lofts only, with a properly displayed permit (current date and/or visible unit number).
  • Vehicles parked in the Guest Spots must display a Lofts Overnight Parking Pass (good for up to 5 evenings in a 30 day period) or Guest Parking Day Pass (up to 6 hours, and for any 5 days in a 30 day period).
  • Long term parking is not allowed.
    • If you are parking in Guest Parking Spots more than 5 days in any 30 day period, seek other parking solutions to avoid the risk of being towed!
  • Guest Spots are not for use of people visiting other buildings on the Motherbrook Property.
  • Guest Spots are not for roommate, employee, or Lofts unit owner or resident parking. If you have a visitor staying more than 5 days, please seek other parking solutions.
  • Parking Policies are enforced through towing by Metro Towing (617-364-0523), a fine, or both, at the Board of Managers discretion.

Guest Parking Passes

One overnight pass is given to every unit and has the unit number displayed prominently. It may be used 5 times in any 30 day period.

Contact Jim Sisk if you need a replacement pass.

Day Passes for Guests

Day passes are only good for 6 hours on the date on the pass and must include the Lofts Unit number on it to be valid.

Day passes may be downloaded by Unit Owners and Residents with the correct password only.

Invalid or illegible passes may be subject to vehicle towing at vehicle owner’s expense.

Alternative Parking Suggestions

Parking is extremely tight on the property, with almost all spots being reserved. And, our guest spots are very limited (9 guest spots to be shared by 70+ units).

Here are a couple of suggestions for alternative parking solutions:

  • Public transportation is available via commuter rail and bus. And there is always one of the shared ride programs such as Lyft or Uber.
  • Shared parking spots. Some spots are open during various hours of the day. Talk to your neighbors, through the bulletin board in the mail room, social media, or in the hallways. Someone may have a spot they are not using when you need it and they may be willing to loan or rent it for a period.

Definition of "Temporary Guests"

Guest parking is a shared resource among the Lofts Unit Owners and Residents. To have this resource available to all of our Owners and Residents, here is the definition.

A temporary guest is a visitor to The Lofts who meets the following criteria:

  • Parking in a guest spot over night not more than 5 times during a 30 day period
  • Parking in a guest spot during the day not more than 8 hours and not more than 5 times in a 15 day period.

What Happens If I Don’t Move My Vehicle?

If the vehicle does not have a valid parking pass, with a date and Unit Number (for Day Pass) or Unit Number (Overnight Pass), or has parked in the spot more than 5 days in any 30 day period, it may be towed by Metro Towing (617-364-0523) and a fine may be levied by the Board of Managers.

If it does have a parking pass, but it has expired, the Unit Owner may be fined for each day it is in the Guest Spaces. And, it may be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.

Guest parking is a shared community resource. Please be considerate to your neighbors.
