Nearly 300 kids in grades 5-8 are exhibiting their work in the lobby and WAL corridors. It is a wonderfully curated, colorful show that speaks both to the joy of making art and the pleasure of meeting one’s neighbors. Allison Aubry, the fine art teacher at APR, is a passionate studio artist with a strong background in mixed media, collage, charcoal drawing, painting, photography, and ceramics. Enjoys working with and teaching children of all ages and creating strong interdisciplinary curriculum.
“One of my most important objectives as an art teacher is creating lesson plans that enable students to explore and express their personal memories and cultural histories through the creation of art images and ideas. Communication through the visual arts unifies and fosters positive relationships among students, which constitutes a social practice that encourages a sense of community. I value the concentration that is required when creating a work of art and my curriculum encourages students to become engaged in a process of making sense of their world.”
